About Me
Horses - I have been caring for horses for over 30 years. My first experience with horses was when I was five, and I have had horses in my life ever since. My experience ranges from attending 4-H club as a youth and showing my Arab at Class A Arabian horse shows during high school, to wilderness trail rides and horse camping. My interests today include natural horse training, building a relationship from the ground up, animal communication, and natural care of my equine friends. Education - After receiving a masters degree in adult education from Oregon State University in 2006, I became interested in natural hoof care through reading books by Pete Ramey and Jaime Jackson, pioneers in the natural hoof care movement. I began trimming my own horses in January of 2007. Later that year I met Leslie Walls, a natural hoof care practitioner from Washington who teaches horse owners the process of natural hoof trimming. Leslie helped me finesse my trimming skills and introduced me to the Association for the Advancement of Natural Horse Care Practices (AANHCP) where I earned my AANHCP practitioner certification. Interests - My interests are varied. In addition to my passion for horses, I delight in my Australian Cattle Dog and my small flock of chickens. I also enjoy many outdoor activities including hiking, camping, and travel, and landscaping, gardening and small building projects. In the house, I am an avid reader of non-fiction, a quilter, knitter and cook. |
